  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 12 oz wontons (frozen)
  • ½ cup neutral oil (for chili oil)
  • ¼ cup red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Start by making the homemade chili oil: In a heat-safe bowl, mix red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, minced garlic, minced ginger, sugar, and salt. Heat the neutral oil in a small pan until hot and carefully pour it over the mixture to infuse. Set aside.
  2. In a large pot, melt coconut oil over medium heat. Add the chopped green onion whites and light greens along with minced garlic and ginger; sauté until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and bring to a gentle boil before lowering the heat to simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the frozen wontons along with soy sauce and optional rice vinegar; simmer until heated through.
  5. Serve hot in bowls topped with dark green onion tops and drizzle generously with your homemade chili oil.
