- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 sub rolls
- 8 slices crispy turkey bacon
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the meatballs on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
- Pour barbecue sauce over the browned meatballs and simmer on low for 10 minutes.
- Slice sub rolls lengthwise and toast them in the oven for about 5 minutes.
- Assemble subs by placing meatballs inside each roll, adding extra sauce, cheese, and turkey bacon.
- Optionally return subs to the oven for another 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese.
