- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (substitute bourbon BBQ sauce with regular BBQ sauce mixed with apple juice if necessary)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 sub rolls
- 8 slices crispy turkey bacon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 16-20 meatballs (about 1.5 inches in diameter).
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the meatballs for 5-7 minutes.
- Pour BBQ sauce over the browned meatballs and let simmer for 10 minutes.
- Toast sub rolls on a baking sheet in the oven for about 5 minutes.
- Assemble each sub with 4-5 meatballs, extra sauce, cheese, and turkey bacon.
- For melty cheese, return subs to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes.
