- 2 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 4 tablespoons heavy cream
- ¾ teaspoon instant coffee granules
Instructions
- Prepare the Tangzhong by whisking water and flour in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened; set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Warm the milk and dissolve instant coffee; add to the dry mixture along with egg, vanilla extract, and Tangzhong. Mix until shaggy.
- Gradually knead in softened butter until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a warm area until doubled in size (about 45-60 minutes).
- Make the filling by mixing butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and instant coffee.
- Roll out the dough, spread the filling evenly, cut into strips, and shape into rolls.
- Bake at 325°F (163°C) until golden brown (20-23 minutes).
- For frosting, mix cream cheese with butter, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and instant coffee until smooth; frost cooled rolls.
