  • 8 Tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • Pinch fine sea salt
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 1/3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • Ground cinnamon (for sprinkling on top)
  • Sliced fresh figs (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F and line muffin pan with cupcake liners.
  2. In one bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and salt. In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light, then mix in olive oil and sour cream.
  3. Fold fresh figs and fig jam into the wet mixture.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; fold in oats or walnuts if desired.
  5. Fill cupcake liners with batter and bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
  6. For frosting, beat butter and cream cheese until smooth; add salt, honey, and vanilla before gradually adding confectioners' sugar.
