Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 packet (7g) instant yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup (160ml) lukewarm whole milk
- 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 cup (226g) cold unsalted butter for layering
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Stir in yeast.
- Add lukewarm milk and melted butter; mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl and cover.
- Let it rise in a warm spot for approximately 45 minutes until doubled in size.
- Roll cold butter into a square and chill until firm.
- Roll risen dough into a square; enclose chilled butter and roll out again.
- Fold the dough in thirds; refrigerate between folds.
- Shape into triangles, roll them up, and let them rise again before baking.
