Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless salmon fillets (about 7oz/200g each)
- 1/3 cup honey
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1.5 tbsp soy sauce (not dark)
- 1–2 cloves garlic, finely diced
- 1/2 – 1 tsp chili flakes
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- Begin by patting the salmon fillets dry and seasoning them with salt and pepper.
- Heat oil in a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat, then add the salmon skin-side down. Cook for about 3 minutes until golden brown, flip, and cook for an additional minute.
- Move the salmon to one side of the pan, add butter to the other side, and baste the fish with melted butter for about 1-2 minutes until slightly golden.
- Lower the heat and add garlic and chili flakes; sauté briefly before mixing in honey, vinegar, and soy sauce. Stir gently until thickened like caramel (around five minutes).
- Return the salmon to the pan, basting it generously with the sauce before serving warm.
