- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 medium yellow onion (diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, combine panko bread crumbs and milk; mix well.
- In a sauté pan, melt butter over medium-high heat. Cook onions until fragrant, then add garlic and cook until softened.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, egg, soaked bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and cooled onions and garlic; mix gently.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf on the prepared baking sheet and score the top with a knife.
- Bake uncovered for about 40 minutes.
- Mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard; spread evenly over the meatloaf.
- Continue baking until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C), approximately another 30-35 minutes.
