  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 medium yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine panko bread crumbs and milk; mix well.
  3. In a sauté pan, melt butter over medium-high heat. Cook onions until fragrant, then add garlic and cook until softened.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, egg, soaked bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and cooled onions and garlic; mix gently.
  5. Shape the mixture into a loaf on the prepared baking sheet and score the top with a knife.
  6. Bake uncovered for about 40 minutes.
  7. Mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard; spread evenly over the meatloaf.
  8. Continue baking until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C), approximately another 30-35 minutes.
