  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/3 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 pound challah bread (sliced)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Spray a 9×13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, softened butter, corn syrup, milk, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat while stirring constantly. Pour the syrup into the prepared dish.
  3. Arrange the challah slices neatly in the casserole dish.
  4. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and whisk in milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until combined.
  5. Slowly pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread slices.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake covered for 40 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over the top, then bake uncovered for an additional 40 minutes or until golden brown.
