Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl; let sit until foamy.
  2. Stir in flour, salt, and melted butter; knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover and let rise for about an hour or until doubled.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and boil water with baking soda.
  5. Punch down dough; divide into pieces and shape into ropes before cutting into bites.
  6. Boil each batch for 30 seconds before placing on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle salt; bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
