Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups cake flour
  • 2 tsp. cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup cold, unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed (dark or light)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 cups milk chocolate chips (or less if desired)
  • Red gel food coloring
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • Edible glitter stars

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cake flour, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream together the cubed butter and both sugars in a stand mixer until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until combined.
  4. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Divide dough into three portions: color one red, one blue, and leave one plain. Roll each section into logs and combine them tightly.
  6. Slice the log into cookie-sized pieces, roll into balls, and place on prepared sheets.
  7. Bake for about 10 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Let cool before decorating with edible glitter stars.
