Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 ounces)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (for crumble)
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar (for crumble)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (for crumble)
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon whole milk
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add half of the vegetable oil to the yeast mixture, then mix in flour and kosher salt to form a soft dough.
  3. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a pizza pan with parchment paper; pour remaining vegetable oil onto the pan.
  5. Shape the risen dough on the prepared pan to cover the edges evenly; bake for about 10 minutes until lightly golden.
  6. Mix melted butter and granulated sugar in a small bowl. Brush this mixture over the baked crust, then spread cherry pie filling evenly on top.
  7. For the crumble topping, mix flour, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, kosher salt, and melted butter until clumps form. Sprinkle over the cherry filling.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for another 13-15 minutes until the topping is golden brown.
  9. Prepare glaze by whisking together confectioners' sugar, whole milk, and almond extract until smooth; drizzle over warm pizza.
  10. Allow cooling for about 5-10 minutes before slicing.
